Musicality or Creativity?

What would you prefer to have in your dance: proper musicality or movement variety?😳🤔🤔🤔⁣⁣

I’m not saying that having both at the same time is impossible, but one of the most common struggles that I see among dancers in terms of improvisation is👇👇👇⁣⁣

‼️Sacrificing musicality due to the fear of being boring or repetitive!⁣⁣

There is such a thing as a ‘concept’: both in music and in dance. If we are dancing to a drum solo improvisation, we are often following the cues from the musician: 💁‍♀️the energy of music changes, we change the energy of our movements.⁣⁣

But very often dancers get afraid that they are too repetitive, and they are trying to push thousands of movements into one drumming section. 🙈🙈🙈Very often it looks inappropriate because music ‘concept’ didn’t change, so why the dance movements changed so drastically?…⁣⁣

Ok, you may gain some scores for creativity, but your musicality will be out of place, which will result in disconnection between dance and music…🤷‍♀️ As a dancer you need to calm that inner panic voice down, and instead focus on being present in the moment, hear the actual music and all cues, and simply enjoy your dance. 💃❤️⁣⁣

So what do you prefer: musicality or variety? 🤣🤣🤣⁣⁣
