SUMMER: Time to Rest or to Practice?

A typically Summer is associated with the idea of vacations. Or at least weekend picnics or 2-day beach trips.

But how to go through this season enjoying its beauty, and NOT compromising your dance training? You worked so hard during the year to improve your shimmies and undulations… it would be a pity to start all over in the fall.

Good news is that you don’t need to choose between summer fun and training. You can do both!

Here are some simple tricks to balance your next few months:

👉Switch to a shorter practice sessions. First, you’ll feel less resistant to practice knowing that you have plenty of time to catch the Sun 😉 Second, it’s way easier to fit a 20-min session rather than a full 1-hour practice.

👉Find a way to do your training during weekdays, so weekends are free for meetings with friends and nature escapes outside the city.

👉Keep music in your headphones going on as often as possible! Transit time, cooking, walking in the park… Music is such a great inspiration, and trust me: once you find a new cool song, you will WANT to do something with it. Finding time for practice will be easy and seamless if you have motivation to do it.

👉Finally, think of all the cute places you are going to during this summer. Maybe vacation time at the beach, or just a pretty green park close to your home. How about recording some dancing there? 😉 You can simply improvise, or use it as an excuse to prepare a combo: either on your own or learning from a class. That way your training will become an integral part of your summer fun. 😉
